Sara was the murderer! Sara (Ximena Lamadrid) was diagnosed with dissociative personality disorder or mental illness in Season 3. The “or” is there because this sloppy show interchanges these diagnoses. Reinaldo (Jean Reno) saw Sara as the ideal lab rat because of her diagnosis. When Sara needed to be rushed to a specialized facility after her parasailing accident, Reinaldo jumped at the chance. He took Sara to his own facility and spread the rumor that she had died.
Sara was cared for for a time by Reinaldo, who was anything but caring. Lucia, her child, was born under his care. Sara, on the other hand, had reached her breaking point after serving as his personal experiment for so long. She stabbed herself to death.
So, yes, Sara is no longer alive. However, parasailing and Marifer (Litzy) were only peripherally involved. Remember when this was a light-hearted mystery about hacking and murder? That was entertaining. Anyway, Reinaldo kidnapped Sara in order to use her as a test subject for the Medusa Project. Reinaldo dedicated his life to finding a “cure” for homosexuality and schizophrenia after learning that his daughter Daniela is gay, dubbed the Medusa Project.

Daniela had her own epic middle finger moment. When Reinaldo was left bleeding on the ground by Lex’s bullet, he turned to his daughter for assistance. She walked away after taking one look at him. That’s what happens when you’re a homophobic psychopath. Sara’s case was suitable for research because she had shown signs of schizophrenia.
He also manages to exact revenge on the person who murdered Sara by killing Reinaldo using intense electroshock therapy. Sara’s injuries from the previous season proved fatal, and in a bittersweet ending, Sara and Marifer reunite in the afterlife, while Sara’s daughter Lucia is cared for by her brother. Meanwhile, Cesar accepts responsibility for Abel’s death, but it is revealed that he is suffering from pancreatic cancer and will die soon.
