Aditya Roy Kapoor In Rashtra Kavach Om Movie Review
A super-skilled fighter and an elite government agency are on a mission to save the nation. Rashtra Kavach Om has some major ingredients that give the story ample scope to permeate thoughtful actions and complicated plot twists. Director Kapil Verma gets the narrative right to ascend their ambitious thriller but the writing is unwieldy and disorganized.
The movie Rashtra Kavach Om begins with Om (Aditya Roy Kapoor) being called for one all-important mission. The attack leaves him almost dead and recovers from memory loss later. He is under the care of Kavya (Sanjana Sanghi) who is not afraid of attacking someone when it comes to defending her team members. Amidst all of these Om also needs to find his father and prove that he was not a traitor.
There is a story of a mother (Prachee Shah Pandya) grieving her lost sons. A politician is stomping around her office furious over a mission that was mishandled by the intelligence department under the command of Murthy (Prakash Raj). The scene adds an unintended comedy to the movie. Raj and Rana sometimes share some quiet jokes on the side.

The story of Rashtra Kavach Om is layered in several layers which makes it unnecessarily complicated. The background music played for every big or small scene is very loud. The action and choreography are a plus point in this movie. Aditya Roy Kapoor glows in his new avatar as a thorough-going action hero. The effort and commitment he has put into transforming himself into the character are very impressive.
His performance is appreciable. Sanjana Sanghi is one of the few women in this all-men territory but her performance is, unfortunately, nothing significant.
It could have had a more crucial role but after the initial care towards Om and one combat scene, she is pushed to the side. Ashutosh Rana plays his character very actively, and Jackie Shroff as the scientist, Dev Rathore, performed aptly. His character was the only one that outshined the others.
In this story, the plot twists occur faster than usual. The action is highly styled with a dependence on high-speed shots and fireworks.
There are multiple attempts from the director to hide the loopholes by allowing the supporting actors to engage in a violent exchange of dialogues. But he fails in his attempt since the gaps are too big to miss and no protection could save this. The movie ends up being a weary experience for the audience.
Previously the film was titled Om- The Battle Within and Honestly it feels like this title would have been better since each of the characters was fighting a battle within themselves. But the new title Rashtra Kavach Om tries to infuse a chest-thumping patriotism among the viewers that
feels unnecessary.
Overall, Rashtra Kavach Om is a fictitious and off-beat movie but if one is a fan of Aditya Roy Kapoor then this movie can be worth the shot. This movie is currently being streamed on the OTT platform Zee 5.
