Moving on to the weekend’s next release, I finished watching the Tamil film Etharkkum Thunindhavan, Based on Pollachi’s sexual-assault case. Suriya’s previous two OTT releases were phenomenal. They were not only in a commercial space, but they were also high-concept films attempting to tell a good story. After nearly three years, a Suriya film has finally arrived.

Etharkkum Thunindhavan: Tamil Movie ON Netflix
Etharkkum Thunindhavan, directed by Pandiraj, begins with a series of murders committed by Kannabiran (Suriya). Apart from his father, Aadhi Rayar (Sathyaraj), no one in his family or village believes he has the capability to kill people. After all, he assists people in obtaining justice as an honest lawyer and an anna (brother in English) to women.
As the story progresses, we learn that the two villages have a conflict. Inbasekaran, AKA Inba (Vinay Rai), a powerful man from the rival village, has treated several women unfairly with his group of guys. Kannabiran’s family suffers when he fights against him. The plot revolves around Kannabiran’s efforts to bring justice to the women who lived in fear of Inba.
Etharkkum Thunindhavan: Suriya New Movie Review
Etharkkum Thunindhavan tells the story of a lawyer who goes after a gang led by the minister’s son that uses clips to threaten women. The film is set in a business context, but the story appears to be out of date. This story doesn’t seem to correspond to 2022. Of course, making videos of women is a pitiful act, but the film fails miserably in its script. Surprisingly, the entire love story between the two protagonists made me want to click the pause button every time. It just didn’t seem intuitive, and it wasn’t interesting either.
Because this takes up so much of the first half, the actual story doesn’t begin until halfway through. This was an outdated style of writing that was simply not focused enough and instead wanted to add several unnecessary elements to lengthen a thin plot. But the problems don’t stop there! The second half is equally tarnished by poor writing and outlandish sequences, all in the name of entertainment.
However, their primary goal must be to entertain us, for which they should be chastised. Halfway through the second hour, I lost interest and just went through the motions in what could have been a good final act. All in all, the screenplay is a complete shambles. The performances are acceptable in this case. Vinay Rai, who plays Inbu, does a great job, though he occasionally goes overboard. Satyaraj and Madhusudhan Rao are both competent.
Aadhini is played by Priyanka Arulmohan, who is delightful and does a good job. Suriya’s performance as Kannabiran is decent, but given the amount of skill he possesses, this film does not do him justice. The dialogues are monotonous and leave no impression.
Indian Tamil Action Thriller Film
The music is mediocre and adds to the drama’s relatively slow rate. The background music is both loud and inept. Director Pandiraj has a good subject on his hands, but he completely misses the mark. The biggest letdown here is his lack of focus in his direction. In my final words, Etharkkum Thunindhavan is a total bummer, and I would frankly not consider this to be one of the Netflix movies to watch.
