The concept of this series is a little different and it shows how the TV news journalist works. The audience will get to witness behind the curtain the tough competition from the entertainment and information world and the fiscality they face when another channel gains a higher TRP than the one.
Zee5 Thriller Web Series The Broken News Plot
Two different news channels have been focused on basically where one news channel targets on to show the actual truth while the other relies on everything and anything and can even showcase a made-up story just to engage the audience and rank above in the Trp chart.
There are two news channels Awaaz Bharti and Josh 24/7. In the same building, they share their offices. Amina (Sonali Bendre) and Dipankar (Jaydeep Ahlawat) are the editors of both channels respectively. Amina uses a warm blue color on the channel to project the highlight and importance while the other uses blood red for the same.
In one of the offices, the employees will be dressed well formally while in others casually. One showcases all the Mirch Masala while the other relies straight on factual news. This is the basic difference between both channels.
All this similarity highlights the personality and the newsroom and how their news helps in framing the opinion of the common people. Dipankar is ruthless and high on TRP whereas Amina relies more on facts than feelings and does not showcase that Pinch of salt.
In both of them, Radha plays the pivotal role who is a mix of ruthlessness and factuality, because of this ethics of Amina her channel is degrading. Will she choose to go with the same flow or add some new table to the channel? Tune into Zee5 to know the same.
The Broken News Web Series Review
The Broken News is an Indian adaptation of a British TV show ‘Press’. The Indian industry has been in a huge way dependent on foreign cinema or shows for content but does this one have to deliver something new than that?
Zee5 has not given so much strong content in a wide ambit therefore the expectation was not that high. The series The broken news has a total of 8 episodes and has a run time of 35 to 40 minutes but on the whole, the series is more than average.
Each and everything has been showcased in an actual way. The working and investigation of journalists, the framing of the breaking news, the pressure of the news industry, and news delivery with the TRP ratings. The audience will also witness the pressure which politics have on journalism and the working of IT cells for them and the politician.
Makers have very closely observed the press for sure and at some places satires on the politicians as well.
Sonali Bendre was thought to lead but she has somewhere failed to establish that aura and connect and looked passive on the screen too on the other hand Shriya Pilgaonkar was brilliant and stable in her character and has been entirely successful in grabbing the limelight and the same goes with Jaydeep Ahlawat.
OTT has given a medium to showcase the talent of many actors who did not get that charm and respect in the Bollywood cinema and Jaydeep is surely the one among them. Overall a good initiative by makers for sure and has been framed in a very good and subtle way. This is definitely one of those dramas which one looks forward to watching.
The Broken News Season 2 Update
Zee5 Thiller web series season 2 is on the way, makers have dropped the teaser of this season 2 web series on 7 June 2023, but the release date has not been announced yet.
