Review of Zombivli Aditya Sarpotdar Movie
This is the first ever Marathi film which is made on zombies. It is a complete package of horror, comedy, drama, and romance and also gives a lesson to its viewers. The name Zombivili sounds similar to Dombivli, which is a small region in Mumbai’s outskirts and has an urban touch to it. Director Aditya Sarpotdar has described this movie as a combination of zombie terror as well as circumstantial comedy.
Zombivli is more of a comedy with zombies. A keen satire towards refinement, reckless urbanization, and prejudice against slums is portrayed by means of humor. It is like a parody of a group of zombies trying to find its solution. The middle part of the plot contains some overdone scenes and lacks the tone, and certain supporting characters do not get adequate exposure. However, the main cast has done exceptionally well.
The character of Sudhir played by Amey Wagh is the one who gains confidence through the hardships and Vishwas, played by Lalit Prabhakar, is the brave activist who is their physical strength, are a well-matched duo. Also, the character of Sapna, portrayed by Vaidehi Parashurami, despite being pregnant, is ready to face anything.
When Sudhir interacts with a zombie for the first time, it is intensely hilarious. The plot develops in such a manner that even when there is an absence of comedy in the movie, it does not bore the viewers. The best part of the movie is how it manages the political situation and class distinction in multiple methods. The music adds to the flow of the movie and keeps the audience gripped from start to end.
Though this film depends a lot on VFX and other visual effects to portray the unnatural beings, it does that brilliantly well. The zombies displayed are scary enough to induce fear in the minds of the audience. The climax combines all the aforementioned genres and keeps you absorbed.
The most impressive social message given by the movie is that the real villains are not bloodthirsty creatures but mean-minded and selfish humans who are greedy and only care for their own benefits. Overall, this movie is a great watch if you like the creature genre. It is perfectly seasoned with satire.
