At 16 Avril signed a two-record album contract with Arista Records. Her debut solo album was Let Go in 2002.
Let Go became the best-selling album of the 21st century by a Canadian singer-artist. From that Avril earned the title Pop Punk.
Avril was considered a key musician in the development of Pop Punk music as a female in the early 2000s.
Avril's second studio album, Under My Skin in 2004 became her first album to reach the top of the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.
Avril's third album The Best Damn Thing 2007 which reached one in seven countries of the world and saw the international success of its lead single "Girlfriend", has become her first single.
Avril's next two albums Goodbye Lullaby which launched in 2011 and in the year 2013 saw continued commercial success and was certified gold in Canada, the US, and others.
