Ranbir Kapoor Shamshera Movie Plot
The plot of this film is set in two different timelines. In 1891, Balli, a Khameran tribesman, wants to join the police and is asked to prove his abilities by passing a test conducted by Shudh Singh. Since the test involves beating a child, he denies it and takes the beating himself. We then go into the flashback about the life of Balli’s father, Shamshera. In 1871, it is shown that Shamshera was persecuted by the people of Kaza based on his caste. In retaliation, Shamshera attacks and loots the kingdom, which creates a terrifying impression among the people.
The aristocrats then go to the British and strike a deal to help them oust the Khameran tribe from the surrounding village forest. The Britishers attack the tribe, but Shamshera and his tribe fight them fiercely which causes the Britishers to escape. They receive a message that they could live without any hindrance and with respect if they do not rob Kaza and stay in a citadel beyond the city’s boundaries.
However, this is a trick of Shudh Singh in order to capture them. The plan falls into execution and the tribesmen are tormented ruthlessly. Shamshera is asked by the British for 10,000 gold coins to release the tribe.
As it would be impossible to arrange for such a hefty amount of coins, he formulates a plan to aid the tribe in fleeing from their trap. However, his plan fails when he was escaping the fortress wall and is shot by the cops who shot him, leaving him injured. Thereafter Shudh Singh kills him by hanging. The tribe assumes him to be a betrayer and hates him.
Back to the present in 1891, Balli understands the entire truth and creates a plan to take revenge for the death of his father and help the Khameran tribe. What happens next? Prime Video Action Movie Shamshera Review
This contemporary action drama has an indifferent beginning as it entails the struggle of a particular community of people due to their caste. However, the focus of Shamshera is on the deception of those who are considered powerful in the freedom struggle. The plot’s major ploy lies in its historical background and curiosity is piqued as the protagonist is known to be the man to bring about the change.
But as the story develops, the anti-caste angle of the film changes into more of a vengeance and action. Director Karan Malhotra could have done better when it comes to the execution of what is called a grand view of the film he had in mind.
Ranbir Kapoor, who plays the titular character of Shamshera and his son Balli has done pretty well in adapting to the action hero role. Sanjay Dutt as Shudh Singh, the principal antagonist has portrayed a character that could be called a mix of his Agneepath’s Kancha Cheena and KGF’s Adheera. The screenplay is decent to subsist the ancient tribal struggle but the excess of VFX makes things look unreal sometimes.
