Oh My Kadavule, an Indian Tamil Language film starring Ashok Selvan, Ritika Singh, and Vani Bhojan, is a story where Arjun is married his childhood best friend Anu with ease. But their marriage turns out to be a nightmare since Arjun is not really in love with her. Things start to get tough, and Arjun gets a second chance in his life that could change his path and outlook.

A young man, Arjun (Ashok Selvan), is conveniently married to his childhood best friend Anu (Ritika Singh), and their marriage turns out to be a nightmare. Arjun was not in love with her and ended up in court asking for a divorce. As things get tough, Arjun gets a second chance in his life that could change his path and outlook altogether.

Arjun and Anu have been friends since childhood, and the audience sees Anu telling him that he wants to marry him in the movie’s very first scene. On the other hand, Arjun doesn’t reject her and says he is okay with the proposal.
They conveniently get married, but Arjun has never seen Anu as his romantic partner. So they decided to go with the flow. Soon the marriage becomes strained since Arjun hardly loved Anu as a romantic partner.

Meera’s (Vani Bhojan) appearance complicates their relationship as she was Arjun’s former high school crush. When he finally decides to part ways, something opens his eyes, and Arjun gets a second chance to change his path and outlook altogether.
In Oh my Kadavule, the source of conflict between the two couples isn’t their friendship, nor does romance affect their friendship in any way. The director tries to explore what happens when two friends where one isn’t romantically attracted to the other, get married. Ashwath Marimuthu provides all these details to the audience in bits and pieces.
Arjun, the protagonist of this movie, narrates these to (Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak), two mysterious people promising to fix his life. The audience sees what would have happened if Arjun had rejected Anu’s proposal.
These parts seem like regular romantic dramas where the protagonist learns the hard way that the person he loved was always close to him. Still, the. Still, the difference is that Ashwath Marimuthu treats all his characters with moral worthiness, which is appreciable.
Ashok Selvan’s performance as Arjun is amazing in this film acting almost naturally. He is a great actor performing well in almost all departments. Ritika Singh as Anu performs well in her role too. Vani Bhojan as Meera is very impressive, on the other hand. Meera has a lovable personality, and her character was showcased beautifully. Vijay Sethupathi as Kadavule was amazing in his role, even if it was brief.
The first half of the movie is engaging and has good humor. But the second half of the movie feels a little slow. The unfolding of the love story is portrayed nicely, but the scenes become predictable for the audience. Also, it would have been more engaging if Anu’s side of romance had a lot of depth.
All in all, Oh my Kadavule is a refreshing romantic comedy with a crisp and appealing narration making it one of the main assets besides the beautiful setting and background of the film. The performance, the essence of comedy, and the dialogue are highly appreciated. The music and camerawork of the movie are top-notch.
Except for the slow pace in the film’s second half, Oh my Kadavule is a refreshing and fun-to-watch movie, and one should go for it. This movie is currently being streamed on the ott platform SonyLIV from 4 June 2022. This movie was appreciated and admired by Mahesh Babu and has been remade in the Telugu language.
