Plot of Sony Liv Orignal Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapasi

He was well educated and brought up in the city, so he was shocked by the unconcealed discrimination prevalent in the village. He gets to know more about the age-old practices of the town’s caste system as he seeks to uncover the truth behind why his father abandoned this village years ago. This triggers the local political influence, Makhan (Pankaj Jha), also Nirmal’s uncle. He goes against him and raises his voice against those who discriminated against him.

Review of Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapasi webseries

The beginning of the Sony Liv original series( Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapasi) is really good; the first two episodes are really fun to watch. The world-building interactions, bickering amongst friends and family, and the united cooking cracking jokes hit straight to the viewers’ hearts. It shows India’s existence in villages and small towns, which is quite refreshing and enjoyable to watch.

From the third episode onwards, the series takes a complete turn. It suddenly becomes harsher and kind of messier. The prospect of conflicts rises, and Nirmal takes in everything around him, from patriarchy to misogyny and caste discrimination, and drives recklessly into its politics. The happy-go-lucky nature of the story changes completely.

Nirmal raised his voice against this discrimination going against his uncle Makkhan, the local political influence of the village.  At this point, it seems that the writing turned clichéd and off from something refreshing and enjoyable. The final episode was not up to the mark at all, making the viewers question its unreasonableness. It ends on a strange note that can neither be considered a cliffhanger nor a proper effective closure. It almost ends abruptly, leaving the story incomplete.

Sony Liv original Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapasi is a show that unapologetically explores the lands that are like a vocation, and some might not find it tempting. It is an easily relatable story among a wide audience about a family that was once incredible and is nothing but a partially nuclear family now. Their emotions of coming back to their homeland after years and realizing that a family was waiting for them are portrayed in this show with subtle humor and much originality.

Nirmal Pathak is broken in multiple ways after learning the reality when he comes back to his homeland. He faces the challenges of mending these broken pieces and trying to adapt to the new surroundings he will be in. The viewers also get to meet his mother, who has been waiting for her son for 24 years. She was left alone after Nirmal’s father abandoned the village years ago. The longing and trauma for that long made her more depressed, and being a woman from a conservative village didn’t help either.

Vaibhav plays the role of Nirmal Pathak amazingly in the series Nirmal Pathak Ki Ghar Wapasi. It looked like he lived in his character and nailed every inch. Alka Amin proved that she’s a brilliant actress. Her acting was intense, and the emotions were visible in her eyes. She was the actual star of this web series. Akash Makihja, who played the role of Nirmal’s brother, performs brilliantly, especially in the last episode. He was amazing throughout the series, but his performance’s last half an hour was unforeseen. All the other actors performed well in their characters, leaving no place to complain.

Rohit Sharma’s music is pleasing to the ear of the audience, and the editing by Kunal Walve is well organized. Girish Kant’s camerawork captures beautiful sights, sounds, and nature of the small town of Buxar. The cinematography and the world-building were the highlights of this web series.

Overall this Sony Liv Orignal shows Nirmal Pathak ki Ghar Wapsi is good and worth the shot. Except for the climax and the abrupt ending, the series is quite enjoyable. The performance of the series is brilliant, and it portrays India, which we get to see in villages and small towns, striking the heart of the viewers. It is a great show, and one should not skip it. Season 1, with five episodes, is currently being streamed on the OTT Platform Sony LIV.
