That’s My Time With David Letterman Netflix Reality Show
David Letterman reintroduces the late-night superstar to his beginnings. Letterman focuses solely on humor here, rather than serious and semi-serious conversations with celebrities and politicians, as he does in his other Netflix series My First Guest Needs No Introduction.
Letterman does a five-minute monologue and interacts with the audience during each 18-minute program. Then he introduces the featured stand-up comedian, who performs the standard late-night “Tight 5” routine. Sam Morril, Naomi Ekperigin, and Brian Simpson are the comedians featured in the first three episodes. After the stand-up does their act, Letterman interviews them for the remaining 8 minutes, allowing the comics extra room to fit in additional jokes, using the famous “sit down stand-up” style popularized by Johnny Carson.
That’s my time With David Letterman is a six-episode comedy series that premiered on Netflix on June 7, 2022, as part of the ‘Netflix is a Joke’ comedy festival. For the time being, only three episodes of the Netflix special have been available; the remaining three episodes will be uploaded on June 12, 2022. That’s my time With David Letterman will showcase up-and-coming comedians and will be presented by David Letterman (as the title suggests). They’ll perform their act for 5 minutes in front of the crowd before sitting down for a talk with David.
Review of That’s My Time With David Letterman Comic Mood
There are now three episodes available, each lasting around 19 minutes. Sam Morril, Naomi Ekperigin, Rosebud Baker, Brian Simpson, Robin Tran, and Phil Wang are among the cast members. It was shot in Los Angeles’ iconic Fonda Theatre. David Letterman is a well-known TV host and comedian who rose to prominence in the 1980s with his NBC late-night chat program Late Night with David Letterman.
Later, he hosted another CBS talk show, The Late Show with David Letterman. His distinctive cinematic presence and humorous flair have helped him earn recognition throughout the years. His Netflix program with David Letterman, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, has also made the top ten.
These episodes, though, are almost as much about Dave as they are about the comedians he is interviewing. Dave’s flinty edginess has softened during his beard-wearing semi-retirement, but his dry self-deprecation hasn’t. And what we’ve observed is that during these portions, Dave is really calm in a manner that we’ve never seen him in all the years he’s done late at night.
In this Netflix special, David takes the stage to a standing ovation and a wave of applause, followed by a short introductory act that generally consists of him talking about current events and personal tales. He even engages with the crowd, which is entertaining and frequently amusing to see. He then takes his place on stage, followed by the featured guest comic.
There are several reasons why we believe he is that way. One, featuring stand-up comedians, has long been a staple of both of his late-night shows. He feels fully at ease even during the monologues, which are penned by head writer Mike Sweeney and writer Mike Gibbons. But there’s also the fact that Dave doesn’t seem to care as much about this program as he does about his late-night shows. It’s not that he doesn’t care, but we’re quite sure he’s not as hard on himself as he used to be when a concert didn’t go well.
Although just three episodes(My Time With David Letterman) have been released thus far, the remaining three are set to be released on June 12th. According to the cast, the upcoming episodes will include Brian Simpson, Robin Tran, and Phil Wang as guests.
Conclusion of Netflix Comedy Series
Dave is simply delighted to be on stage conversing with amusing individuals, as seen by his demeanor and ease during the interview session. Of course, Dave is able to cleverly guide the comedians into doing additional bits of standup with the assistance of pre-interviews and a backstage meeting before the event.
He does, however, ask personal inquiries, such as when he asked Simpson about being a foster child who joined the Marines after aging out of the program. Dave, on the other hand, keeps things lighthearted, relying on the talents he developed from interviewing hundreds of stand-up comedians over the course of his 33-year career late at night.
