Farzi Release Date 2023; Plot

Shahid Kapoor’s OTT debut web series Farzi is based on ‘Jaali Note’ printing, though there are few other movies also on the same plot, Farzi gives a new definition to an old concept.

Watching Sunny (Shahid Kapoor)- a lower-middle-class man, anyone can relate to the character directly. Sunny’s privation takes him to the wrong path of printing fake notes which are hard to distinguish from the original ones. Sunny’s childhood was deprived of parental love and is raised up by his grandfather ‘Nanu’ (Amol Palekar)- a man of principles.

 Due to lack of almost all essentials in his childhood, Sunny feels desperation to get everything in a very short time and hence gets involved in an illegal act. After getting involved in such activities, he meets Mansoor Dalal (Kay Kay Menon)- a kingpin in this field. Finally, he crosses his path with a cop- Michael (Vijay Sethupathi), a man who is struggling between his personal and professional life. The story and action shuttle between Sunny, MIachel and Mansoor, involves the appearances of Rashi Khanna, Bhuvan Arora and Amol Palekar from time to time.

Shahid Kapoor OTT debut has provided him more open space to pour out his acting talent. No doubt, Shahid is a great actor with dense acting skills, exotic style and power-packed action. No one can take their eyes off the screens. And when Vijay Sethupathi shares the screen with him, it becomes hard to handle the rich and pure quality of acting which they provide to their viewers. 

Both are the strong pillars of their industry and words limit themselves when it comes to writing about their talent. 

In Farzi, the story revolves around Sunny, a protagonist who emerges as an antagonist due to his not so good childhood memories and experiences. Vijay Sethupathi was extremely fabulous in his role, he catches the attention of the viewers so naturally, just like he catches convicts in the series. Sita Menon and Suman Kumar did a great job in their writing space and managed to pull off an amazing story through an ordinary concept.

A very ground and basic look is given to the actors, costumes, sets, and language to show the condition of the struggling class. This is the reason it gets more relatable to the common man. Duo Raj and DK again try to create the magic of their work as they did in Family Man starring Manoj Bajpayee. 

While watching Farzi,  there are possibilities that you may feel that the show is a web series or a tutorial for printing fake currency.
