Ms. Marvel Review On Disney+Hotstar
Ms. Marvel has only two episodes that have been aired yet, but they’re marvelous. So far, the plot is simple and light. To be more specific, Kamala is a sixteen-year-old student, artist, and diehard fan of Avengers in general and Captain Marvel. We find her narrating her latest animated story about them with great enthusiasm.
The first episode of the series shows Kamala trying to persuade her parents to allow her to go to the Avengers Comic convention, which is just a bus ride away. She wanted to refine her Ms. Marvel costume and calm the school principal when she was dragged into the principal’s office for constant daydreaming and doodling. It is beautiful to see an accurate and unlimited depiction of passionate fandom.
With the help of her best friend, (Matt Lintz) Bruno, a tech genius – Kamala gets the opportunity to wear her Marvel costume. At the last minute, When Kamala adds one of an old family bangle to her ensemble, she gets invested with the ability to shoot energy beams which take a solid form and allows her to step onto the platforms she makes ahead of her in the air. It works as an alternative to super speed or the ability to fly.
To be more precise, the bangle also allows Kamala’s powers to be tied to her Pakistani heritage and the trauma of partition. The bangle belonged to her grandmother, who went missing during that time. It appears that her grandmother is communicating with Kamala through her powers.
Kamala is nervous but very excited after discovering the power of the bangle. As an audience, we have seen the troubled lives of superheroes, them fighting against the outer world or other supernatural villains. But here we see Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first Muslim superhero trying to fight to find her own identity. Kamala is trying to save the world but is also struggling with her family and their mentality.
By the end of the second episode, a twist promises the audience a fulfilling development of this section. The relationship between the families and the domestic scenes became the greatest strength of the opening part of this episode. The culture and religion are portrayed much more relaxedly in every big and small way.
Iman Villan’s acting is genuine and up to the mark; with a fascinating personality, she does know how to keep the audience invested in this series. In scenes where Aamir, Kamala’s brother, comes to her room to console his sister when she’s crying after a disagreement with her parents or where Kamala’s mother is trying to stop her from following her dreams without realizing that it’s hurting her daughter is tough yet loved by the audience.
