Yamaleela (యమలీల)

Yamaleela(యమలీల) is a Telugu comedy movie that was a blockbuster in 1994. In the plot of this movie, a young man finds Lord Yama’s book that predicts the future, he uses it to earn money for his ancestral home. When Lord Yama finds the book which he misplaced, he comes to Earth to claim it.
This movie became the inspiration for many movies like Taqdeerwala, Yamaleela 2, Lucky Man (1995), and the television series Yamaleela Aa Taruvatha which premiered in 2020.

Yamagola(యమగోల)

Yamagola(యమగోల) is a 1977 movie that was a huge success at that time. Satyam (N.T. Rama Rao), a youth leader, is assassinated by Radrayya (Rao Gopal Rao) for falling in love with his daughter (Jaya Prada). But after he is taken to heaven, Satyam does everything he can to get back to Earth and take revenge.

This movie drew inspiration from many films like Lok Parlok in Hindi and Yamanukku Yaman in Tamil.

Yamanukku Yaman(யமனுக்கு யமன்)

Yamanukka Yaman(யமனுக்கு யமன்) is a 1980s Tamil Comedy movie that was a box office disaster at that time. The plot of the movie revolves around Sathya who reaches the court of Yama after his sudden death, for exposing the crimes of the village head. While protesting against Yama for being alive again which results from Yamaraj’s vacation and grants him his wish.

This movie is the remake of the Telugu movie Yamagola and Lok Parlok in Hindi.

Lok Parlok (लोक परलोक)

The story of the film revolves around Amar (Jeetendra) who makes the area prosperous and antagonizes an autocrat Kali Charan (Madan Puri). He assassinated Amar for falling in love with his daughter Savitri ( Jaya Prada). After death, Amar reaches heaven, where he asks Yamraj (Prem Nath) and his assistant, Chitragupta (Deven Verma) to leave for a vacation. However, when the two get in trouble, it is Amar who must save them.

Lok Parlok(लोक परलोक) was a hit movie at that time and this movie was based on a Telugu movie 1977’s Yamagola. This movie was also directed by T. Rama Rao.

Taqdeerwala(तकदीरवाला)

Suraj (Venkatesh) is a mischievous man. As a result of his behavior, his mother was disappointed with him. One day he found a book that tells the future, which was misplaced by Yamlok, and to get back that book Yamaraj ( Kadar Khan) and Chitragupt (Asrani) came to earth to find it.

This movie(तकदीरवाला) was based on the 1994 Telugu movie Yamaleela. Although this movie was a flop, the dialogues were written by Late Kadar Khan and it became a cult classic.

Lucky Man

Gopi (Karthik) gets the book of Death, which he uses for his gains. But he gets in trouble with Yamadharman ( Goundamani) and his enemies, who are after him to get that book for his sudden fortune.

This movie is based on the Telugu movie 1994’s Yamaleela and the Hindi movie 1995’s Taqdeerwala.

Vaah! Life Ho Toh Aisi

It is also the best classic comedy movie where the main actors name Aditya ( Shahid Kapoor) has a lot of family responsibilities. After a sudden death, he meets Yamraj ( Sanjay Dutt) who takes him to heaven. After Yamraj receives the request, he has one week to complete his work.

While the movie concept was original, it failed at the box office because it was a nostalgic film for the 2000 Kids.
