Qala Film Review: Qala, A melodious psychological drama with an excellent story approach is streaming On Netflix. The albums of the Film Qala are already on our favorite list but the movie too has now made its place and has acquired a 9.2 IMDB rating. It is one of the New Movies of 2022.

Qala is an Indian psychological drama that comes straight from the production house of Anushka Sharma and Karnesh Sharma which is a clean Slate filmz. Qala is one of the top movies on ott.

Qala film is written and directed by Anvita Dutt and has Tripti Dimri, Babil Khan, and Swastika Mukherjee in pivotal roles. The movie is streaming on Netflix today. 

Talking about the director Anvita Dutt, herself is a multi-talented woman, A writer, director, storyteller, lyricist, and Screenplay writer. Earlier as a director of the film Bulbbul and now with Qala film she has defined her own genres. She is par excellence in carving stories and keeping it women-centric. Her stories make you tilt in a way to rethink and re-imagine. So far she has directed two films including Qala and both were period movies, Hence it’s not easy to give a perfect shape to period films but she has done complete justice in terms of visuals, cinematography, sets, direction, and story. 

Her fragile stories are strong enough to get broken as she puts up with a perfect aesthetic feel as required.

The film follows the story of a girl named Qala, who means an artist. She excels and brought up by her mother Urmila who pushes her to do more and more, the subplot is definitely dealt with the relationship between Qala and Urmila and that becomes the film spine. The story is of the era of the 1930s and ’40s. 

The warm yet cold relationship of her mother and Qala confuses you at a time but as you reach the climax things start to become clear. Qala starts losing her mental health at times in search of becoming a perfect artist. The story clearly shows how difficult it is for a woman to survive in an artistic Industry, especially where the men come from a patriarchal background or with a patriarchal thought process but the irony remains the same. Though the story follows a backdrop of 90 years earlier the reality is almost the same even today. 

Tripti Dimri has played her part brilliantly leaving no scope for improvement which can be picked up. Babil Khan carries a legacy of the late Irfan Khan and watching him on screen was completely magical as he seemed to be carrying his reflection. The way he delivered the dialogue naturally being overburdened and overshadowed in his first film was completely something to be praised. Qala film was a very good choice for Babil Khan to explore himself in terms of acting and screen presence. 

Zakir Khan Tathastu on Prime Video Review

Since the day Zakir Khan took to his official Instagram to announce his new show Tathastu on Prime Video the audience is elated and is all set to welcome him with wide open arms as his stage presence already sets the stage on fire. 

Tathastu is currently streaming on Prime video and it is one of the must-watch stage shows leaving no moments missed. With a heavy dose of laughter, Zakir Khan is all set to spill some heart-touching emotional lines that will touch the core for sure. The Standup comedian and performer has always given us some memorable and relatable performances inspired from his own life and from others and the Tathastu is one such performance of his that is close to his heart equally as he quotes.
